Beyond Boundaries

Generation Xcel presents this holiday issue of Xcel Today with great gratitude.

The holidays celebrate movements beyond boundaries. Christmas commemorates God's willingness to transcend ordinary limitations of space and time to touch mankind. Hanukkah remembers how one day's supply of oil miraculously kept the temple lantern burning for eight days. Kwanza esteems seven "eternal values" that supercede socio-economic restrictions.

How fitting, then, that we at Xcel take this time to recognize our own movement beyond traditional boundaries. In the last year, Xcel has opened a second facility, seen its impact double, and watched its leaders pioneer citywide relief efforts and national initiatives. Our immediate community has expanded beyond the projects in Alphabet City to include the fringe communities of the East Village, and our network of community partners has multiplied exponentially.

What a difference a year makes.
